You might not be able to tell from my photos, but I have very thick and curly hair. So, trying to manage my locks from season to season can definitely be a battle! Remember when I had long hair? Oof, let me tell you - it was certainly a lot to manage especially during the humid summer months! I've put together some of my currently tips and tricks for how I am managing my hair while transitioning from winter to spring. Read on!
- Bring Back Moisture: We don't realize our dried out our hair is after bearing the winter elements and using endless heat on it to keep it styled to perfection. I haven't been the biggest fan of conditioner until recently (see tip #2!), so I tried other ways to keep my hair hydrated. My best advice is to try a hair mask for damaged and dry hair. There are options from split end treatments, moisturizing lotions and hydrating shots depending on your hair type. If you're not sure where you stand, start with a split end treatment and see how it goes. You don't want to use too many products too often or your hair can become oily.
- Add Volume: I'm sure you've seen Chrissy Teigan all over your TV recently promoting Tresemme's newest reserves wash system. I'm not going to lie - I was a little skeptical upon seeing the system myself. However, after actually getting my hands on it and using it myself, it's definitely worth a try! Transitioning from winter to spring typically calls for a lot of rain and up and down temperatures, and it's safe to say my hair gets flat and frizzy from both elements. These products are all about giving your hair a weightless, soft and voluminous look that calls for a night out on the town! (...or in watching New Girl and sipping on wine)
- Invest in Quality Styling Tools: This should be a rule of styling your hair no matter the season, but if you're like me and frequently use a straightener or curling iron, don't be afraid to spend a little money on nicer tools. Sometimes, the higher end brands really do make a difference. Typically, they last long, heat up stronger and provide consistent results. Over the winter, I received the Fromm 1907 hair dryer, and I'm obsessed! I swear by this tool.
- Pump Up the Color: I'll admit it, I was a hair color virgin...until about 2 weeks ago. I have been wanting to try a few highlights, but was scared to manage my roots. First, holy smokers, I think I am broke because coloring your hair is so darn expensive. Second, I really love it, so I guess it was worth it? I noticed I've been taking more time to actually styling my hair before heading out the door. Maybe it's because of these bright little touches!
