NYC RECAP 1: FOOD + DRINK

Friday, September 12, 2014

Hello, hello! I've been trying to get back into the game after getting a few days behind from my NYC trip + working + blog planning + blog designing. That's a lot of stuff going on over here. Today, I'm sharing my first recap of my trip to NYC - the coffee shops and restaurants! I was only there for a few days, and we did cook at home a couple nights too - but these are my favorites that I just couldn't wait to share.

 1. DTUT - Our first coffee stop was DTUT in the Upper East Side. I loved the decor and cute set up. Very rustic and artsy - perfect for a Fall day. (btw.. it was totally not a Fall day when we went. It was 90 degrees and humid. Ick.) What's even better is DTUT serves coffee and wine - meaning you can hit this spot up more than once in the day!

How fun would this DIY project be?

Love this book nook.
In case you were wondering - yes, they serve pumpkin spice lattes too!

2. Le Pain Quotidien - Our SoHo shopping lunch break took place was at the cute little coffee and sandwich shop, Le Pain Quotidien. As my sister put it, it's like an upscale Panera Bread. The food was delicious and just filling enough. Our favorite part was their fresh squeezed lemonade. Seriously, so good.

We LOVED their fresh squeezed lemonades. My sister had the watermelon lemonade while I stuck to the plain lemonade.
The delicious turkey, hummus, kale, carrot and cucumber flatbread.
3. Blue Bottle Coffee Co. - One of our final coffee stops was at Blue Bottle Coffee Co. on the High Line. Again, it was a hot hot day and while I wanted to try the coffee, my sister and I agreed we couldn't handle it in the heat. Instead, we opted for the Cascara Fizz. It was very refreshing and fresh squeezed! It incorporated a little bit of tea, fizzy water, and lemons. I can't wait to try this recipe at home.

The finished product. Looks resfreshing, huh?
4. Bareburger - On our final night together, we decided to go for an 'ol fashion burger at Bareburger on the Upper East Side. They are all-natural and organic burgers, snacks and shakes all over NY and surrounding states. It was a great night to sit in their indoor/outdoor seating. I forgot to take a picture of my delicious meal, but I order the Farmers Quiona Veggie Patty Bare Sliders with a side of fries to share. I don't typically order veggie burgers, but these were excellent!

The seating and location was perfect.

What are your favorite food + drink spots in your town? It's always fun to hear of great local eats!

XO,
katie
