This months feature is the gorgeous
Katy Perry

With Katy Perry's movie, Part of Me, just released on DVD, I thought I would focus on her for the September feature. Many of my close friends know how much I absolutely LOVE Katy Perry. She can pull of any trend, has a genuine personality, and comes from a hard working background. I think it is safe to say there is no reason why I shouldn't have Perry as one of my monthly features! (lets be honest, if I wanted to be a weirdo, she would be the feature every month!)

Katy Perry is a 28 year old Santa Barbara, California native. Most of us may know for her catchy pop tunes and her over-the-top fashion ensembles, but did you know she started out as a much more conservative songwriter named Katherine Hudson?

Both of Perry's parents were pastors and did not agree to allow her to listen to rock or top 40 hits or watch television channels like MTV or VH1. Because of these strict standards, Perry decided to rebel against her parents and take on an interest in the arts. Soon after, she traveled with her mom to Nashville to record a gospel album that was released in 2001.

Later on, at the age of 17, Perry worked with producer Glen Ballard. Three failed record deals later, she finally signed with Capital Records in 2007. This is when her singles "Ur So Gay" and "I Kissed a Girl" made their debut of her album One of the Boys.

In 2010, Perry release her album Teenage Dreams. This album had five number one singles on Billboards top 200. This included "California Girls," Teenage Dreams," "E.T.," "Firework," and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)". This album is the first and currently only, after Michael Jackson, to achieve such an acomplishment from one album. Perry made history by being the first female to do so.

Between the release of both albums, Perry got married to British comedian, Russell Brand. Remember when they got divorced 14 months later? I could of told her that wouldn't work out!

- Guest judge on X Factor UK

- Nominated for 10 MTV Video Music Awards in 2011
- Released two fragrances, "Meow" and "Purr"

As I said before, I seriously LOVE Katy Perry. When I found out she was going to be coming to Chicago on tour in 2011, I had to find a way to go. Unfortunately for me, the tickets that were left were absolutely horrible seats and very pricey. So I started the Katie4Katy fund. Needless to say, I didn't get any donations. So, when I heard my local radio station was giving tickets away - I called over and over and over again and won PIT TICKETS TO SEE KATY PERRY, a signed tour jacket, and an awesome Polaroid camera. Pretty sure this was one of the best days ever along with the concert. It was amazing. Her costumes were awesome. Her voice was spectacular. I will have these same seats when she decides to go on tour again. The best concert I have ever been to by far.

My sister and I before the concert started. Look how close we were!! (I'm on the left)
Our view of Katy Perry for 99% of the concert!
Sidenote: this costume had butt pads in it. Thats who close we were to see!
