Teen Choice Awards 2012: Pink Carpet Recap

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

It's time to talk about the pink carpet fashions from the Teen Choice Awards! These awards are held annually and allow the fans to vote on their favorite celebrity per category. One of my favorite things about this award show is the casual vibe. This way, the stars don't need to get dressed in their biggest, brightest, and fanciest designer duds. Rather, they can opt for a pair of jeans and a cute top or a short and fun dress (like most chose!). Take a look below at the trends I found most prominent at this years show. Make sure to find the coral star to see which one was my favorite in each category!

Bella Thorne, Lea Michele, Hayden Panettiere, Miranda Cosgrove, and Crystal Reed showing some glitz
on the pink carpet!
As most of you know by now, I am a HUGE glitter/shimmer/sparkle fan. Unfortunately, I don't like the majority of the dresses in this category. The cuts and length are perfect for all of them, but the design factor: not so much. My favorite (hint hint: the coral star) is Crystal Reed. I loveeeeee this dress. The sparkly shoulder piece adds a bit of edge while the longer length keeps it classy. Not to mention, her hair and makeup choice works perfectly. A soft and subtle look without going overboard.

Kat Graham, Hannah Simon, Chelsea Kane, Victoria Justice, and Holland Roden went with a design/pattern to stand out on the pink carpet.
Busy, busy, busy - try and look at each outfit individually instead of a giant pattern blur! I actually surprised myself and like all of them in a different way! My favorite was Kat Graham. The tribal patterns and pastels are really in this season (Good job Kat!). The only thing I would change about her outfit are the shoes. I think a pair of nude pumps or anything just a single solid color would be best. Overall, I like all the different style choices these stars chose. Whether it was a short dress, shorts, high low dress, or cap sleeves, they all looked great with out choosing a pattern that was too overpowering for the amount of surface area each item covered.

Nikki Reed, Zooey Deschanel, Nina Dobrev, Lucy Hale, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift looked fabulous by going bright and bold on the pink carpet.

When in doubt, solid it out (pretty sure that is my new slogan). I seriously love all of these. No joke. ALL. Take note friends because this will rarely happen. The cut, the design, the length, the hair, the make up, the accessories - everything is working for these ladies. But, if I had to pick my favorites, I love the cut and design of both Lucy and Taylor's dresses. They are playful (and in Taylor's case, sexy mama-ish) while still being tasteful. Notice: None of these are skin tight, booty bumping dresses. That means- girls: you should NEVER wear something that looks like you have a seat cushion built in. So, if you are looking for that perfect dress for a summer event, try something bold and bright!

Jordin Sparks, Justin Bieber, Debby Ryan, Cat Deeley, Kevin McHale, and Ashley Benson need some help on the pink carpet.
These stars need some help. I don't know where to start! The grandma dress, space pants, camouflage -they don't exactly sound good together, do they? All of the ladies have great figures and could pull off almost anything, and yet they chose crazy patterns, short short dress, tight dress, and metallic pants (yes Cat, I'm talking about you!) And the guys, who said camo was in? I know you can do better than that Justin! I will say, Ashley's dress wasn't bad except for how tight it was. It could have been looser and shorter and I think it would have looked super cute. With that length a) I don't know how you could walk it looks so tight and long b) you look matronly. Well, I really don't have much to say except lets hope they don't wear anything like this again.
